Written text Nick Jones is a mechanic. He lives in Oxford. He repairs vans and lorries in a garage. He goes to work by bus because his wife uses the family car to go to her place of work.
He starts work every morning at 9 o’clock. Every day he eats lunch in a small cafe near the garage. He stops work at 4.30 p.m. and then he goes to the swimming pool and swims for an hour and a half. He is a very good swimmer and he swims in competitions. He needs to practice every day.
He doesn’t work on Sundays but he sometimes works on Saturday morning if the garage is very busy. The Jones’ have got 2 children, a boy aged 7 and a girl aged 9. They are also interested in swimming and they often go to the swimming pool with their father in the afternoon.
Nick’s wife Theresa is a teacher. Theresa comes from France. She teaches French and is very good at languages. She speaks French, German, English and Italian. Her children speak French because Theresa always speaks French with them. Nick speaks a little French too.
Theresa starts work at 8.45 and stops every day at 12.00. After work she goes to the shops to buy food and then she goes home. Theresa doesn’t like swimming, but she often takes the children to the swimming pool. In the evening she watches TV and sometimes listens to French radio programmes.
