YKSITAVUISET ADJEKTIIVIT

1. Komparatiivi muodostetaan lisäämällä sanan perusmuotoon pääte -er, ja superlatiivi lisäämällä pääte -est + määräinen artikkeli.

2. Lyhyen, painollisen sanan (hot, big, sad jne.) viimeinen konsonantti kahdentuu.

3. Jos viimeinen kirjain on e, se sulautuu päätteisiin. Esim. fine finer finest

4. Jos viimeinen kirjain on y, se muuttuu i:ksi. Esim dry drier driest

5. Tietysti on muutama poikkeuksia. Esim:
